Ali is the Executive director of Pharmacovigilance, in the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) (since 2018). He completed a master degree of pharmacology from king Saud University (KSU). He received a postgraduate certificate in pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance from London school of hygiene and tropical medicine in the United Kingdom. Ali completed two years as hospital pharmacist (2007-2009). He started his career in the SFDA as adverse drug reaction assessor in 2009, and then he was hired to be a head of periodic safety update report evaluation section (2012-2015). From 2015 to 2018, he was nominated as a director of pharmacovigilance and drug safety center.

He involved in the implementation and enhancement of pharmacovigilance guideline. He has several initiatives to enhance the drug safety regulation in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia such as enhancement of pharmacovigilance awareness for healthcare professionals and public, improvement of communication with the marketing authorization holders and improvement of quality management system within the center. Ali has trained in several fields including drug safety, pharmacovigilance and clinical trials. He is participating in many area of pharmacovigilance activities such as drug safety review, drug risk management plan and safety communications.
