Dr. BS Charan is currently working as an Assistant Director General (ADG) at Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Government of India. He has an MBBS and MD Community Medicine from KEM Mumbai.
He has worked in World Health Organization for 4 and 1/2 years in NPSP then joined as a Public Health Specialist in Sub-cadre of CHS, Govt of India and was posted as Additional Director at DHS, Delhi Govt.
He is currently looking after implementation of National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP) and National Programme for Prevention and Control of Fluorosis (NPPCF). He also contributes to various matters related to Emergency Medical Relief (EMR), National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) and National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP).
Dr. BS Charan is also Member Secretary of National Rare Diseases’ Committee (NRDC) and member of Central Technical Committee for Rare Diseases (CTCRD)
